Bray and I took on the task of completing the square within a square model of the Living on the Edge models. We used pine needles and fallen Ginko leaves as an aggregate for our model. It worked well in both the first and second model (seen above). The square was created from a tupperware container. The curves are made from white foam we cut out at various widths and lengths.
This is the front of the presentation model. The textured look from the leaves and pine needles we liked because it was to represent the rigid nature of our "sister" island, the desert group.
Model One.
Trial and Error. Our group worked together initially to make a model where part of us measured, part of us cut work, part of us assembled and then we all helped mix in aggregate and pour the concrete. Unfortunately, this was a slow process and did not serve us well. So, we decided to break up into sub groups.
This is mold 2/2. The square has rocks in it to hold down the tupperware container. In our first model, the tupperware container wanted to float out of the concrete and allow it it turn green below and around the square, creating more work and a lot of fine editing after it was removed from the mold.
