Precedent Analysis [IAC Building]
IAC Building
Designed by: Frank Gehry
Located: Manhattan, New York City. On 11th Ave., W 18th St., W 19th St.
End Year of Construction: 2007
Why?:
I chose the IAC building by Frank Gehry because it was the “world’s first glass curtain wall to have cold-warped-glass panels bent on site”. In my studio class I was in a group that studied curtain walls just recently, so I found this building to be a very interesting and motivational building choice. I like how abstract and unique buildings really stand out and change people’s minds. This building makes a statement in its own way and is slightly different from other buildings of the past in that it is structurally curvaceous and outlandish and unlike ever before.
