The Assignment: Draw a Castle. Any media.

Media Chosen: Watercolor Colored Pencils & Water on Bond

I think the front entrance of the castle turned out the best of the entire drawing. I liked the light and shadow on the walkway into the castle and the rounded columns next to the doorframe.

What I would do differently: I tried to make the grass and the water look 3-D but it still looks flat. I want to look for techniques on how to improve upon this. The rounded columns with individual stone blocks was a great challenge. I learned a lot about perspective through this drawing. I will continue to work on bricks, stones, etc in perspective.

My Castle Choice: This castle is based off of a fairy tale castle and a Roman Castle
