blog header SYTYCD

This was a blog header that I created for a SYTYCD assignment. I rendered this header in black pen and Prismacolor Markers, then took it into Photoshop and edited it digitally. I created a simple design that expressed our progress or rather, "in the making".

logo

This was a SYTYCD assignment where we had to create a logo for our kitchen studio projects. I chose a leaf and a world inside a circle because the Corwin family I was designing for lives on their own private island, care about preservation and nature.

SYTYCD camera

This camera was drawn and edited on Photoshop. I drew this image with black pen and digitally rendered it. This is by far my favorite rendering and drawing of the year.

SYTYCD a Concept?

This was a SYTYCD assignment where we were asked to create a composition about our concept without stating our concept. We were to use images that inspired our concept/drove our concept (precedent images), 4 words that described our concept (words being used to drive design decisions) and put it on display for critique and guesses!

My concept was a tricky one to guess because it is a bird. My concept is eclectus parrot. These colorful, friendly birds inspired me with Jeff Corwin's kitchen design.

So 70's

This is a trendy pad inspired by the 1970's. I looked at various spaces and combined elements that I liked to make this eclectic space. My favorite part of the composition are the orange chairs. I utilized Prisma Color markers and Micron pens on marker paper. This is the revised version of a previous assignment.

So you think you can custom?

This was my custom island that I designed for the Corwin family. This drawing is done on marker paper and with Prisma Color Colored pencils, Micron pens and PrismaColor Markers. My island is curved to resemble birds wings, a part of my concept: Eclectus Parrot that drove my design.

Logo

This was a logo I created to tie together my client (Jeff Corwin) and my concept for his kitchen space (the eclectus parrot). This logo will be placed on presentation boards, handouts, items and the like. This is my project stamp so to speak. My media for this assignment was black ink and PrismaColor markers on Bristol Board.

So You Think You Can Draw---Halloween Style

My assignment was to draw a spooky house with a super graphic and create a scary story to go along with it. My haunted house has broken windows, a broken roof and porch and dead trees and vines. My super graphic are the bloody handprints which were done with my pinky and ring finger dabbed with crimson PrismaColor markers. My entire work is done on 18"x 24" marker paper with black Micron pens of various line weights and Prisma Color markers.
My story is a spooky tale about Mr. Tunnelton, a hardworking husband that goes outside with his scythe to tend to the yard. He comes back into his home to ask his wife for a glass of lemonade and his wife kills him with kitchen items unexpectedly. Now, the house is haunted by the ghost of Mr. Tunnelton and he roams the house ready to swing at the next person that enters his home, in case its his wife. High schoolers from the area try and enter the house every Halloween but nobody ever survives. The house is known for its creepy tale and bloody handprints on the windows.

Say Cheese!

what inspired me

the result

I was inspired by a really interesting bright red vintage Seagull camera. It made me want to take pictures all day somewhere windy and ocean side. Maybe Rhode Island perhaps. I drew the camera out and drew in the glasses and pencil to show proportion. I went in afterwards with Photoshop and changed colors, added shadow and light to make a camera all my own.

Castle

The Assignment: Draw a Castle. Any media.
Media Chosen: Watercolor Colored Pencils & Water on Bond

I think the front entrance of the castle turned out the best of the entire drawing. I liked the light and shadow on the walkway into the castle and the rounded columns next to the doorframe.

What I would do differently: I tried to make the grass and the water look 3-D but it still looks flat. I want to look for techniques on how to improve upon this. The rounded columns with individual stone blocks was a great challenge. I learned a lot about perspective through this drawing. I will continue to work on bricks, stones, etc in perspective.

My Castle Choice: This castle is based off of a fairy tale castle and a Roman Castle

2nd Year Blog Nametag

This was an interesting drawing assignment. We were told to design a title block for the 2nd year IARC blog and this was my creation. It reads: "The Second Year Blog. Designers in the Making". I was pleased with the result of the black pen and green Sharpie highlight marker on bond.

So You Think You Can Draw?

This drawing was about joinery. I named it transmit because the connection is emerging from the center. There is a contrast of defined shapes and organic shapes. This is Sharpie on bond paper.
